The elevator jolted to a sudden stop. Power outages have become routine lately.
But, this time, I didn’t mind.
Not for the evening city view through the glass panels.

Just us.
It felt like fate was handing me a chance — maybe my only one. I couldn’t wait any longer. My pulse hammered louder than a train clattering over rough rails.
“You… you’re beautiful”
She turned to me sharply.
“I’ve been trying to say hi since you joined nine days ago,” I blurted.
Her eyes widened.
A shiver ran up my spine — would I be getting that email from HR?
Then she smiled, the prettiest smile in the world, and whispered.
“Same here.”
